The Tabuki Retreat currently offers two fully self- contained cottages that can accommodate two in the cottages and two in Te Buian Taari (traditional house over the water) that each cottage has. It is privately owned and operated by an Australian- Mike Savins and his local wife Riteta Savins. The Retreat is perfectly located on Tabuki islet near the broken bridge between Tabiteuea village and Biketawa islet. Ideal for travelers who want to experience peace and a more relaxed and quite atmosphere. To get to the Retreat from the Otintaai Hotel in Bikenibeu on South Tarawa takes less than 20mins cruising by boat across the peaceful lagoon.

Facilities and Services

The two cottages have their own separate toilets with showers. Sheets, towels and toiletries are provided. They are also equipped with mattresses, cooking facilities and internet services if you bring your own laptop. Things you can do in Tabuki include swimming and snorkelling in a crystal water around the broken bridge, learning how to catch Mantis Shrimp (big brawn) the local way, fishing, kayaking on a local canoe, cultural tour and visit to historical sites on North Tarawa which can be arranged on request with the owner preferably a few days prior to arrival. We also provide tours that are tailor-made to meet your needs/and preferences. Our rates are varied depending on the number of nights spent in Tabuki which include boat transport for both ways.
