The name, Sweet Coconut is derived from the old village name known locally as “Tebunia” or Sweet Coconut Palm where the Motel is located. It is about 15 minutes ride by car from the Airport.
FacilitiesThe motel has 3 main separate units with a total of 11 rooms altogether, 7 of which are available on long term rental basis. Two of these units are double storey buildings situated separately close to both the ocean and the lagoon. The one close to the lagoon side has 2 double rooms downstairs and two single rooms upstairs with air-conditioning and their own toilets but all sharing a lounge and kitchen equipped with a gas stove, refrigerator, utensils, coffee and tea making facilities located downstairs. The other double storey building near the ocean side has 1 single room and 2 double rooms upstairs and 1 single room downstairs with ceiling fans and sharing a kitchen with cooking facilities such as a gas stove, utensils, refrigerator, toilets, shower, lounge, and a telephone located downstairs. Small breakfast such as cereals, milk, coffee and tea are always available in the lounge. In addition, the other unit by the road side consists of 1 double room and 2 single rooms with their own air-conditioners, toilets and showers but all sharing a kitchen with same cooking facilities and a telephone. The motel has a separate building with air-conditioned room used mainly for private or official workshops, conference and meetings that can accommodate up to 50 people. It is equipped with 1 overhead projector, 1 desktop computer, chairs and tables. It has an extension meeting room that can also take up to 12 people plus a newly built local meeting house known as “Te Mwaneaba” where workshop can be organized or where meeting refreshments are normally served.
