Domestic Air Services
The domestic air service is provided by 2 airlines in Kiribati, Air Kiribati Ltd & Coral Sun Airways currently flying to the outer islands of the Gilbert group: Makin, Butaritari, Marakei, Abaiang, Tarawa, Maiana, Kuria, Aranuka, Nonouti, Tabiteuea, Beru, Nikunau, Onotoa, Tamana, Arorae. Fares vary from approximately $50 - $230 pp one way dependant on the island you are travelling to.

Shipping and Ferry Services
Shipping services are available between most of the islands in Kiribati, including services from South Tarawa to Kiritimati and Kanton. For those visitors who wish to travel by boat to the outer islands please contact the following:
- Kiribati Shipping Services Ltd (KSSL) – Has ships that provides sea freight and passenger services to most of the islands in Kiribati. . On Kiritimati Christmas Island KSSL office is located at Ronton, Kiritimati. Tel: (+686) 81190 ; Fax: (+686) 81191.
- Kiribati Inter Island Shipping Services (KIISS) – Has boats that provides sea freight and passenger services to the islands in the Gilbert group. Main office is located at the wharf at Betio on South Tarawa. Tel/Fax: (+686) 26839.
- Oceanic Shipping Services – MV Super Carrier & Sea Bus (Super Cat) Transport - provides comfortable sea bus transport for passengers as well as sea freight ferry to islands in the Gilbert Group. Office located on Betio, Tel: (+686) 50333.
- Local Ferries Passenger Services – Local passenger ferries to North Tarawa port at the Bairiki wharf and return trips are often scheduled daily. These ferries depart North Tarawa in the morning around 7 to 8am. In the afternoon they depart from Bairiki wharf to North Tarawa around 3pm. Local passengers’ ferries to Islands Abaiang and Marakei depart at the Betio wharf usually in the afternoon depending on the tide.
